A very cost effective method for off-site disposal of petroleum waste is recycling at cement kilns.
Through its proprietary Scalprep process, Scaltech converts petroleum waste into an ideal material for recycling to approve cement kilns. The material derived from the Scalprep process is a dried solid cake perfect for kiln recycling. Scaltech has partnered with Lafarge, the world’s largest cement company to recycle its Scalprep Product.
The final Scalprep Product is unique in that it is:
- 70-80% or more solids by weight
- less than 10% water content
- minimizes the amount of valuable oil shipped
The Scalprep Process consists of first separating solids from oil and water utilizing either a high speed vertical disk centrifuge or a conventional horizontal decanter. The resulting solids are dried utilizing Scaltech's proprietary MX2000 low temperature thermal drier. The MX2000 operates at about 120°C (300 F) and dries off all of the water and the light oil. The vapors are condensed and the resulting water and oil are separated in an oil water separator. Clean oil and water separated during centrifuge processing and from the thermal drier are returned to the client.
The high solids and high BTUs of the Scalprep Product translate to the lowest transportation and kiln charges per ton of waste solids recycled and the best overall economics for off-site recycling of petroleum oily wastes. Moreover, cement kilns provide long term pricing guarantees for the Scalprep Product.
